⚠ Warning Signs

Know the Red Flags

If you encounter any of the following during your job search, stop immediately and report it. These are clear signs of fraud.

Money Demanded Upfront

Any employer, recruiter, or agent asking for money — registration fee, security deposit, or placement charge — is a scammer. Legitimate employers never charge candidates.

Laptop / Equipment Deposit

A "security deposit" for a laptop, work equipment, or uniform before joining is a common work-from-home scam. No legitimate company requires this.

Contact via Personal Numbers

Recruiters who only communicate through personal WhatsApp numbers or personal Gmail addresses (not official company email) should be treated with extreme suspicion.

Guaranteed Instant Job Offer

An offer of immediate hiring with no interview, no proper selection process, or with an unrealistically high salary for minimal work is almost certainly fraudulent.

Vague or Generic Job Description

Job posts with no clear company name, address, or specific role details — especially offering "easy work from home" with very high pay — are major warning signs.

Paid Training Before Joining

Any request to pay for mandatory training, certification, or onboarding before your official joining date is a well-known fraud tactic. Legitimate employers train you after hiring, at no cost.

🔒 Protect Yourself

Safeguard Your Information

Be cautious about what you share and with whom. Scammers often target personal and financial data.

Never Share Financial Credentials

  • Do not share your OTP (One Time Password) with anyone, under any circumstances — including someone who claims to be from ShiftHain.
  • Never reveal your UPI PIN, bank account number, debit or credit card details, or net banking passwords to any employer or recruiter.
  • Be alert to calls or messages asking you to "confirm" or "verify" payment details as part of a job onboarding process.
  • ShiftHain will never call or message you asking for payment, OTP, or banking information.

Share Documents Carefully

  • Share your Aadhaar card, PAN card, passport, or bank account details only after you have independently verified the employer's legitimacy and only when genuinely required during the official hiring process.
  • Never send scanned copies of identity documents to someone you have met only online or via WhatsApp without proper verification.
  • If a company asks for sensitive documents at the very first stage (before interview or offer letter), treat this as a red flag.

Verify the Employer

  • Search for the company name independently on Google before proceeding. Look for an official website, registered address, and verifiable contact information.
  • Check if the company is registered on MCA (Ministry of Corporate Affairs) at mca.gov.in for added assurance.
  • Cross-check the email domain — a legitimate company will communicate from their official domain (e.g., hr@companyname.com), not from Gmail or Yahoo.
  • Call the company's official number (found on their website) to confirm the job offer before accepting or sharing documents.
